The government has initiated a comprehensive programme aimed at providing basic and latest training to the levies force in all the tribal agencies besides equipping them with modern weapons to improve their professional skill. Political Agent Khyber Agency Shafeerullah Khan while addressing the passing out ceremony of the newly trained jawans of Bajaur Levies Force.
The government has taken various measures to improve professional competence of the force and to equip it with latest weaponry. To achieve the desired goals, Levies Training Centre has been setup at a cost of Rs 20 million and has taken the firm decision to equalise the salary and allowances of the Levies Force with that of Frontier Constabulary (FC).
Notification to this effect is expected in coming two months, he added. Shafeeerullah Khan said, the levies performance against the militants in the agency was matchless and the government's measures would further improve its professional capabilities. He further said the process to recruit jawans for the levies force has started. The present strength of the force in the Bajaur agency was 1,540 of whom 1,300 were on duty.
The Bajaur administration terminated services of 500 jawans so far due to absence from duty. He on this occasion also announced Rs 200,000 for Levies Regimental Funds for the welfare of the levies. The ceremony was largely attended by the tribal elders, high ups of the administration and people belonging to cross section of the society.
