New Zealand share prices closed 0.58 percent lower on Tuesday, led down by top stocks Telecom and Fletcher Building, dealers said. The benchmark NZX-50 index fell 16.53 points to 2,812.70 on turnover worth 85.7 million dollars (51.2 million US). Telecom fell three cents to 2.58 dollars with a rise in the New Zealand dollar putting off Australian investors.
Fletcher Building dropped 10 cents to 6.75 dollars, casino operator Sky City dropped three cents to 2.91 dollars and Fisher & Paykel Appliances fell three cents to 64 cents. Contact Energy rose seven cents to 6.12 dollars, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare added five cents to 3.20.
