Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Punjab Government for the development of 19 cricket grounds in Lahore as per international standard for promotion of the game at grass root level.
Sources in the PCB told Business Recorder that Director Human Resource in the Board Wasim Bari is currently holding talks with senior officials of Sports Department Punjab to identify cricket grounds that will be developed in Lahore with the co-operation of multinationals and other interested organisations.
According to the sources, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) have shown inclination for developing one cricket ground each in Lahore, which will be named NBP and HBL respectively, if the terms and conditions are decided. Senior officials of both the banks are also going to hold talks in this regard with the Punjab government officials next week.
Sources claimed that the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had already asked the high-ups of Punjab government in the Sports Department to develop the grounds in different parts of Lahore in consultation with PCB. The Sports Department had identified around 19 grounds in different areas of Lahore.
