US corn futures closed lower on Friday following falling soyabeans and on outlooks for better corn planting weather next week in the US Midwest. CBOT July corn was down 11 cents per bushel at $4.17-1/4. Break in US Midwest rains next week to boost planting.
Heavy rains on Friday and overnight Friday to further delay corn plantings, followed by brief period of drier weather but still difficult to plant corn in soggy eastern US Midwest. China to move more corn stocks to consuming areas. US cash corn on Friday nearly flat and no farmer selling noted. CBOT July oats was unchanged at $2.28.
