Over 2,000 Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) employees, recently reinstated through presidential ordinance, have launched an indefinite protest drive from Sunday against non-issuance of confirm order, delay in payment of salaries and dues despite joining duties and getting posting orders.
They said that the government has failed to implement the presidential ordinance despite passage of 90 days as over 2,000 SSGC employees have been deprived of their salaries and dues.
It is pertinent to mention that 7700 employees were fired from 17 different organisations. The presidential ordinance ensured their reinstatement along with payment of their dues.
Several organisations including SSGC could not yet implement the presidential ordinance in true spirit. The SSGC employees have given the ultimatum till 15 June 2009 to the company administration, warning them of strong protest agitation if their issue is not resolved.
The SSGC administration under supervision of Federal Minister Khursheed Ahmed Shah has clarified that it is a difficult task to adjust a huge number of reinstated employees within short span of time, so this process will take more time.
