Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has refused to provide relief under Prime Minister Special Relief Package to bereaved families of Wapda's deceased employees. The bereaved families of Wapda's late employee threatened to move court for justice if the federal government will not provide relief.
According to sources, the Wapda and its subordinate administrations refused to provide relief to affected families of the Wapda employee who died during service under the Prime Minister Relief package and said that the Wapda was not bound to implement the decisions of federal government and Prime Minister.
It may be noted that the written instructions were given to all ministries and divisions to ensure the implementation of the Prime Minister package and several government and semi-government institutions started implementation of the package.
According to Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division, the Prime Minister had approved special relief package in 2006 for the government employees died during service.
The bereaved families of the employees of other government institutions are getting benefits from the package. The affected families of the Wapda also submitted applications to get relief under the PM package but in the response, the Iesco administration made it clear that it was not bound to implement the decisions of the federal government and Prime Minister and openly refused to provide relief.
The Deputy Manager said that they were not bound to implement rules and decisions of the federal government while on the other hand, the employees of Wadpa and its institutions are receiving various incentives from the federal government including 15 and 16 percent increase in salary every year.
The bereaved families appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raze Gilani and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to provide relief them like other institutions under PM approved Special relief package.
