The Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Sassui Palijo has said that Sindh government has planned to construct a comprehensive Provincial Museum at Karachi to promote historical and cultural heritage of Sindh internationally. This she said while talking to the Journalists at Sindh Museum Hyderabad Sunday night, where she arrived to inaugurate corner of renowned artist Late Zaffar Kazmi and his painting exhibition.
She said that this museum would not be only to project the cultural heritage but also to encourage young artists who according to her were very much engaged in depicting the cultural heritage of Sindh through their colours. She said that the main source of these artists was the poetry of Saint Poets and added that we could combat with extremism with the help of output of these artists. She said that her ministry has already planned to establish corners with the names of well-known artists in Sindh Museum Hyderabad and other Museums in the province.
While referring the question about the placement of Swat migrants in Hyderabad and other parts of Sindh, the Sindh Minister said that though such influx would create socio-economic problems in Sindh but this placement was temporary and situation would be normal after short time. On the occasion, Sindh Minister inaugurated Late Zaffar Kazmi Corner and also laid floral wreath on the mazar of Zaffar Kazmi and offered fateha.
Later, addressing the inaugural ceremony, Sussui Palijo announced Zaffar Kazmi Awards and added that it would be provided to best artists every year. She said that Sindh government has started the survey of archaeological sites in Sindh. She said that her ministry was more interested to protect the historical sites in Sindh as such has decided to earmark Rs 1 million for each district in next financial budget against the Rs 0.8 million reserved by previous government for whole Sindh for the purpose. She said that her department has also decided to establish cultural complex in each district with Art Galleries, Auditorium, and Museum facilities to project the historical and cultural aspects of each area of the province. The Provincial Secretary Culture Shams Jafrani in his address lauded the historical and cultural services of late Zaffar Kazmi and said that had not the Zaffar Kazmi rendered his services, the Sindh Museum would not have been established in such a beautiful design with such precious antique, historical items, and sculptures.
