Malaysian shares ended up 1.13 percent on Tuesday on buying activity in key heavyweights and secondliners, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index climbed 11.48 points to 1,023.49 with a volume of 1.754 billion shares worth 1.60 billion ringgit (451.53 million dollars). There were 544 gainers, 158 losers and 155 traded unchanged.
"A confluence of positive factors helped drive the market higher," a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires. "The positive spillover effect drove a number of blue chips and finance stocks while plantation and oil and gas stocks rose on the back of higher crude oil prices," the dealer added. Among gainers, Bumiputra-Commerce ended up 1.7 percent at 8.90 ringgit while MRCB rose 8.7 percent to 1.25 ringgit. IOI Corp inched up 2.8 percent to 4.48 ringgit.
