President, Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that ANP is a democratic party and has always believed in resolving issues through dialogue and peaceful political means rather than the use of force. The present provincial government of ANP tried its best to resolve the issue of Swat through dialogue amid all pressure and oppositions it made the peace accord.
It promulgated Adl Regulation in Malakand Division, set up Qazi Courts and appointed Qazis as per rule but unfortunately the militants violated the peace accord compelling the government to use force to ensure the safety of the people and establish the writ of the state.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of party office holders and members of the provincial assembly of Charsdda, here on Friday. The meeting besides party office holders and MPAs of Charsadda was also attended by Provincial President ANP Afrasiyab Khattak, spokesman Zahid Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister NWFP, Masoom Shah Bacha, Provincial Ministers, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Arshad Abdullah, Provincial General Secretary ANP Tajuddin Khan and other party office holders.
Addressing the meeting, Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the provincial government was still abiding by the Swat peace accord but the militants violated it and their nefarious designs were exposed before the nation. The provincial government of ANP from the very beginning has taken all the political parties into confidence regarding the Swat situation and that is why today all the major political parties support the military operation against the militants in Malakand division.
Asfandyar Wali Khan stressed the party workers of Charsadda to make co-ordinated and organised efforts to provide all types of relief to the affectees of Malakand. He asked them to constitute a committee on district level in this regard, make regular visit to the IDPs camps and co-ordinate with the provincial committee of the party regarding the deficiencies in the camps so that necessary steps cold we taken to make the deficiencies.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing developmental projects on district Charsadda including provision of sui gas, establishment of cadet college, construction of rounds were also discussed. Asfandyar assured the party workers that those developmental projects would soon be completed.
