NWFP Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that militant's agenda has been exposed now and the nation should get united for complete elimination of such elements from the country. He expressed these views while briefing newsmen here Saturday about measures being taken by government for providing relief to IDPs.
Mian Iftikhar, while referring to Peshawar blast which, claimed 10 lives and injured about 80 persons, said government cannot be deterred from its resolve to completely annihilate militants. He said militants have now started targeting general public instead of security forces and government functionaries, and nation should now get united for tightening grip against them.
He urged the high ups of security forces to target leadership of militants in Swat valley so that confidence of general public is restored. Iftikhar said the government and nation is fully satisfied over the measures taken by security forces for restoring peace in Swat valley, but urged the Army high ups to target leaders of the miscreants so that more confidence of general public is restored.
He said some circles are raising question over the military operation and objecting that so far no leader of the militants has been killed. Being a public representative it is our duty to convey public sentiments to security forces, he added. Iftikhar said government has decided to start scrutiny of IDPs registration so that duplication is checked. He said the figures shown by provincial government about the number of IDPs is supported by United Nations.
However, he added, some reports of duplication of registration in different cities has been reported. About the goods required for IDPs he said still 11,000 fans are needed. Similarly, other items required are 10,000 water coolers, 50,000 bags of milk for children, flour, sugar, pulses, rice, oil, dry milk, soap etc. He said those who want to make any donation should consider the priority list of goods required at the camps.
