A total of 1377 villages of 22 districts of Sindh except Karachi have been energised by Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) under Village Electrification Programme during July 2008 to April 2009. The project Director Construction/Operation Hesco Muhammad Moosa Mirbahar informed that an amount of Rs 1168.17 million has been spent for energising these 1377 villages.
Giving details, he informed that on Prime Minister's directives under Peoples Works, 685 projects of village electrification have been completed at the cost of Rs 608 million while on recommendations of Senators and Members National Assembly, 18 projects have been completed at the cost of Rs 19.513 million.
He informed that on the recommendations of Sindh Chief Minister 378 projects have been completed at the cost of Rs 350.172 million while on recommendations of District Nazims and Citizen Community Boards, 172 projects have been completed at the cost of Rs 111.66 million. Similarly, 172 projects, recommended by Members Sindh Assembly, have been completed at the cost of Rs 76.381 million, he added.
