Pakistan is an underdeveloped country. Average income of a common man is very low. People of middle and lower middle class mostly live from hand to mouth situation. It is very difficult for them to meet their daily basic needs. It is their genuine problem they face every day. They have to fulfil many duties to keep their lives on right track - entertainment, cultural events etc.
It's quite difficult to keep our mind at peace during day to day performance and for that, every one needs to be entertained. Most people have only one source of entertainment, called TV. They spend their leisure time watching TV. Although television is a great source of advertisement, people are fascinated by products and companies. On the other hand it's an easy way to get information.
However, it's all related to our daily life and we should greet it with a smile. But one thing which is giving wrong messages on this very common platform is that this source conveys the message to people that they should buy these quality brands for festive occasions, like marriages. A country where average income of the common man is meagre, how can manage all these accessories for his loved ones.
The question is that what is the role of the organisations like NGOs. They should organise campaigns against dowry. Television is a very common source of information so it's important that immediately all such advertisements should be banned because they lead to frustration.
