British troops in Afghanistan have killed a senior Taliban leader behind suicide bomb attacks that have killed several British soldiers, the Ministry of Defence in London said Tuesday. Mullah Mansur was killed in a strike by British helicopters on Monday in an isolated area north-east of Lashkar Gah, the capital of troubled southern Helmand province, the ministry said in a statement.
"UK forces conducted a successful precision strike against one of the most dangerous men in Helmand, and what we consider to be the most dangerous man in the central area around Lashkar Gah," Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson said.
