The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik has urged India to withdraw its troops from occupied Kashmir saying that the incidents like Shopian will continue to recur till Indian army is present in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that the presence of army camps in the civilian areas made people feel insecure. "The Shopian incident clearly shows that the troops have outraged the chastity of our sisters. The troops know that they can kill anyone as they enjoy impunity due to Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA)," he said.
Demanding the revocation of the AFSPA, he said that the Indian government and the puppet administration should punish the perpetrators of incidents of violence against women in the occupied territory.
Stating that the puppet regime was covering up the murder and rape of two young women in Shopian, the JKLF chairman said that instead of shielding the troopers it should have nabbed the killers and rapists. "The people will expose those who are trying to cover up the incident. We will never compromise on the honour of sisters and mothers," he added.
