The 1st year student of Cadet College Razmak, Saad Iqbal, who escaped miraculously from the clutches of kidnappers, said that the college was closed in view of the security situation in the area. He said that security measures were taken for the safe journey of 430 students and flying coaches were arranged for the purpose.
Around 18 to 20 students were boarding each coach and the convoy of coaches left for Bannu at 3:30pm. When the convoy reached Peshawar check post, armed kidnappers appeared in two vehicles and intercepted the convoy of coaches saying that they just want to talk and no need to worry, he narrated the story of kidnapping.
After that the armed men sent their drivers in the coaches and turned the vehicles from Bakakhel to Janikhel area and the journey continued for the whole night. The kidnappers said that they were heading towards Makeen area for a meeting of students with Baitullah Mahsood and the next day security forces attacked the kidnappers for our recovery that continued till morning.
The security forces after a successful attack managed to free many students and teachers from the kidnappers at Gariyom Packet area, he said, adding that 40 students including Director Physical Education Abbas Khan, lecturer Pak Studies Gul Zameen were taken to undisclosed location. Saad Iqbal said that the armed militants took three coaches to unknown destination after tussle with security forces.
