At Present Pakistan is going through another phase of national crisis and calamity. After prompt and successful military operation against belligerents, the situation in Swat and Malakand is getting better with the passage of time but the loss is much more than what the eye can see. The innocent and peace loving people of Swat and Malakand have been forced to leave their homes under some unavoidable circumstances.
They have been rooted out of their native places and now they are living in camps arranged by the government for their temporary placement. Now, with a shocking 2 million internally displaced people (IDPs) of Swat, Pakistan is officially experiencing an extraordinary crisis. These Internally Displaced People are living under severe conditions experiencing paucity of food, health facilities and all other necessities of life.
As people living in the same country, it is the responsibilities of every Pakistani citizen to come forward and help these IDPs in this hour of grief and need. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif has taken unprecedented measures to support the people of Swat and Malakand. It is really commendable the way Government of the Punjab is utilising all its sources to help and minimise the sufferings of IDPs living in camps.
Punjab government is assisting the displaced by providing medical and food supplies to the camps at places including Mardan. With special reference to medical facilities, 40 mobile medical teams from Punjab have been dispatched for relief camps and three District Headquarters Hospitals of Mardan, Swabi and Malakand.
The government of the Punjab has also set up a temporary hospital for the patients with serious ailments. In order to pass through this tough phase, all we need is to strengthen the hands of our government and support its endeavour to help our people who need our help now.
