A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Wednesday, suspending single bench orders, restored principal of Punjab University Law College, Shazia Qureshi, and issued notice to respondents after admitting the petition for regular hearing.
The petitioner contended that the respondent Ammara Khawaja had never directly challenged Shaiza's appointment before single bench as she had only questioned refusal of her admission in LLM classes. Therefore a case of issuance of writ of Quo Warranto was not made out.
He further pleaded that it is an admitted fact that in the absence of professor or associate professors in the college Shazia was the senior most teacher there. And VC had rightly exercised his powers under section 15(3) of University of Punjab Act 1973 but the single bench overlooked this point.
