The Lahore High Court (LHC) has appointed a local commission to take over the business affairs and accounts of a private company on its failure in pay backing the finance given by Bank of Punjab (BoP). The court issued this order on a petition filed by BoP against Lakk Developers.
Barrister Syed Ali Zafar on behalf of BoP submitted that the bank gave a finance facility of more than Rs 260 million to Lakk Developers for the construction and renovation of Savoy and Elite Hotels in Lahore.
Counsel argued that the company was denying the very existence of hotel and hence it was necessary to safeguard the assets of the company by appointing receiver/inspector to examine the business and accounts. After hearing contentions of the parties the court appointed local commission to scrutinise and prepare the business accounts and record for the protection of the huge finances given by Bank of Punjab (BoP).
