Punjab Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Ahmad Ali Aulakh said here on Thursday that the government would set up a latest livestock farm by year 2012 at a cost of Rs 750 million to ensure more production of milk and meat and breeding of quality animals. He stated this while chairing a departmental meeting here on Thursday.
Secretary Livestock Punjab, Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan, Additional Secretary, Nazir Ahmad and Deputy Secretary Khalid were also present on this occasion. The Minister also said that another livestock farm on latest lines would be set up in the province with a cost of Rs 100 million during the next financial year.
Ahmad Ali Aulakh said that a campaign under private-public partnership would be launched to create awareness amongst the masses about animal diseases and their treatment. He stated that there was a dire need to create awareness in livestock farmers about provision of better fodder and treatment facilities to the animals for getting more milk and meat production.
He said that the government was also working to improve the marketing system for milk and meat and inspection was also being done of private butcheries and slaughterhouses. Meanwhile the provincial minister also held an 'open court' in the provincial metropolis and said that provision of justice was the top most priority of the present government. He said those officers would not be spared who were not taking interest in resolving the problems being faced by the masses. Applicants on this occasion submitted their problems against police, revenue, Baitul maal and other departments.
