Various Ulema belonging to different schools of thoughts have welcomed the speech of US President Barrack Obama in Cairo and hoped it could help bridge gap between the Muslim Ummah and the United States.
Chairman Tehrik Akhuwat-e-Islami (TAI), Allama Inayat Ali Shakir, Allama Saeed Ahmed Qureshi, Allama Nisar ul Mustafa, Allama Mujahid Hussain Kazmi, Allama Rai Zafar Ali and others in a joint statement issued on Friday said the US President's address would help to promote inter-faith harmony and peace. While commenting over the US President's address, Chairman TAI said that President Obama's address would help bridge gap between the US and the Islamic countries.
He said Obama has given a message of peace, harmony and friendship of the entire Ummah, which would prove an initiative of new era of friendship. He said US President's visit of Saudi Arabia and Egypt was highly important because Saudi Arabia has equal importance of spiritual thinking while Egypt has a long history of education for Muslims.
He said Obama also wished in his speech to extend good ties with Iran while he (Obama) expressed the desire to peace in Palestine and Iraq. The US President also praised the teachings of Islam because it teaches peace, harmony and friendship while Islam has no connection with terrorists, he quoted the address of President Obama.
Allama Inayat Ali Shakir also said that what the US President said that Muslims were equally contributing in the development of the US. He said Pakistan was ally of US in war against terrorism so that President Obama should visit Pakistan also. He hoped the US President's address would help promote interfaith harmony and peace and to root out terrorism.
