Countrywide power shortfall has exceeded 3000 megawatt, while the plight of the citizens in all the cities is worsening due to the unbearable unannounced electricity load shedding. Despite Pepco promise, load shedding schedule remains as yet unannounced, while most areas of the country including Lahore is beset with two to three hours of load shedding after every one hour, private news channel reported.
Some areas of the city get electricity supply for half an hour only after breakdown of one or two hours. Load shedding in small towns stretching over twenty hours has become a routine. Power outage has rendered the tube wells also going idle creating an acute water shortage depriving people even from drinking water for survival.
The citizens have demanded tangible steps for ending load shedding instead of Pepco making mere announcements and giving false hopes. On the other hand, Pepco insisted that load shedding was being done according to the schedule and spurned the complaints of the citizens saying not true.
