The Punjab government has made it mandatory for visitors to display their National Identity Cards (NIC) before entering any government or semi-government departments. According to sources, the government has directed all the departments to check NICs of civilians who visit the government offices, and that anyone not carrying his or her card should not be allowed into any office.
The move comes as a precautionary measure against any terror attacks in the province.
