A large Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carrier ship, bringing cargo for a multinational company; docked at the Progas LPG Terminal on Tuesday. According to a press release issued here on Friday, this is yet another parcel of LPG to be handled by the Progas Pakistan Limited at its Port Qasim Terminal since it began commercial operations.
The Progas LPG Terminal, the first of its kind in the private sector; was developed as a common user facility. The arrival of M.V. Gas Sulawesi also marked the safe operational handling of another LPG vessel by Progas crew. Progas LPG Terminal has a very high safety record. The crew have successfully handled cargos as part of Progas' own marketing operations and for other LPG companies, delivering the product through its logistics network.
The Progas LGP Terminal has added significantly to Pakistan's energy security. Its dedicated jetty can currently undertake ships up to 15,000 DWT but is designed to be able to handle VLGC of 80,000 DWT with minor modifications. The terminal has a current capacity to handle up to 2 million MT of LPG imports annually. Pakistan imported 23,765 MT of LPG in 2007-2008, with an ACGR of 5.7 percent.-PR
