Major allocations of funds for Balochistan in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) shows Pakistan People's Party (PPP) led-government's commitment towards resolving problems of the province, Federal Minister for Population Welfare Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday.
"PPP government has a comprehensive development plan for Balochistan, which focuses on mega development projects to bring remote areas of the province at par with developed areas of the country," the minister said in a statement issued here. She said that allocation of Rs 50 billion in PSDP for Balochistan, besides an additional Rs 9 billion special package and budgetary support for the province was main initiative of the government despite financial turmoil.
Similarly, increase in proposed PSDP to Rs 421 billion by the Prime Minister besides Rs 200 billion overall provincial PSDP for the Financial Year 2009-10 was also an admirable step for betterment of the masses. "Maximum accommodation of the provinces' projects especially Balochistan and NWFP has been ensured by the National Economic Council on directions of President Asif Ali Zardari," Dr Firdous added. Regarding IDPs, the minister said that government was giving highest priority to addressing the difficulties of people who borne hardship in defeating terrorism.-PR
