Environmental degradation is costing huge loss to Pakistan's economy besides effecting personal life of its inhabitants, and it is responsibility of every institution and individual to play role to save the ecological system. This was the consensus of the participants of the seminar organised here by Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday.
Govt Girls High School, Morgah, Fauji Foundation Girls College, Lalazar, Environment Club, core customers, Pakistan Oil Field Limited, Attock Petroleum Limited, Pakistan State Oil, Shell Pakistan, Chaklala Depot, Chevron Pakistan Limited, Morgah Depot, Murree Brewery and Punjab EPA also participated in the seminar.
They expressed their resolve to work for creating awareness among masses for eradication of irritants, causing environmental pollution. Students from above institutions also displayed posters on Environmental Degradation and remedial measures for protection of Mother Nature.
District Officer Environment, Rawalpindi in his opening remarks explained importance of the Day, followed by Attock Refinery representative's presentation on the theme of this year ie, "Your Planet Needs You. Unite to Combat Climate Change".
In the presentation, issues like global warming, greenhouse gases and their effects on environment, and how one can contribute for its sustainability were discussed. A statement of Adil Khattak, Chief Executive Officer ARL as a Business Leader of the UN Global Compact on "Caring for Climate" was displayed and communicated to all participants.
