Security has been beefed up across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to frustrate any attempt of terrorism, official sources said. According to the sources, in order to avert any threat of subversion and terrorism, particularly to the state-run installations in AJK, foolproof security has been beefed up and additional security staff including police force at all the entry points leading to AJK have been deputed, official sources said.
The sources told APP here that security was tightened through AJK in order to maintain law and order situation and to frustrate the threat of any untoward incident. The sources said that the authorities have increased police patrolling to maintain security of the important public-sector buildings in all eight district headquarters as well as the tehsil headquarters across the liberated territory.
The administration has also deputed security personnel in plain clothes to keep a vigilant eye on unscrupulous and suspicious elements. Since whole of the territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is exceptionally peaceful area and the overall law and order situation throughout AJK is under full control yet the security is being strictly observed high in all the eight district headquarters including the metropolis to avert any untoward situation.
The APP has learnt that the District Magistrates and the District Police Chiefs (Superintendents of Police) as well as heads of all the police stations in AJK have been directed by the government to intensify patrolling in their respective jurisdictions in order to ensure the full maintenance of peace and order in the area.
The COPs have also been deputed at all the entry points leading to various AJK districts adjacent to various parts of Pakistan, to make thorough check on those entering Azad Kashmir. Besides, the services of the Civil Defence volunteers have also been proposed to be engaged to assist the police to maintain law and order as and when required. The sources said that police patrolling has particularly been intensified to keeping a close watch on any suspicious vehicle entering the AJK districts.
