All-round gains were seen on the currency market on Thursday amid easy supply of dollars in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee on the interbank market, managed to gain 25 paisa against dollar for buying and selling at 80.80 and 80.85, they said.
Marketmen said that fluctuations in the rupee versus dollar is totally depending on the demand and supply factor. They also said that the rupee may not face sharp fluctuations till the end of the final session of the out-going fiscal year 2008-09. In the fourth session of the Asian trade dollar fell against a basket of currencies, paring some gains made after the benchmark US Treasury yield hit its highest point in eight months the previous day.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee inched up with a rise of five paisa in relation to dollar for buying and selling at 80.90 and 81.10, they said. The rupee adopted the same pattern versus euro gaining 60 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 112.50 and Rs 113.50, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee recovered some of its earlier loss and marginally increased by five-paisa against the dollar in the local currency market on Thursday. The dollar could not maintain its last day position and slide down to Rs 80.95 and Rs 81.20 against the overnight closing of Rs 81.00 and Rs 81.25 on buying and selling sides, respectively. However, trading activity remained considerably low because of the sluggish trend, the moneychangers said. On the contrary, the rupee could not continue rising trend and registered loss against the pound sterling. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 132.00 and Rs 133.00 as compared to Wednesday closing of Rs 131.00 and Rs 132.50, respectively, the moneychangers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday. The dollar opened at Rs 80.90 (buying) and Rs 81.00 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 80.90 (buying) and Rs 81.00 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 128.00 (buying) and Rs 129.00 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 128.00 (buying) and Rs 129.00 (selling).
