Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has achieved a landmark in shipping history of Pakistan by handling the largest container ship ever berthed in Pakistani waters. Specific arrangements were made for the berthing of vessel M.V. PUELO at the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) with dimensions ie over 304 meters length, 73,934 gross registered tonnes and 11.5 meters draught, said a press release issued here on Monday.
The PQA has already increased draught to 12 meters at QICT to encourage larger vessel callings at the port. With futuristic approach, the port has been transformed into a bustling hub catering for more than 40 percent of sea-borne trade of Pakistan.-PR
