Divisional Commissioner, Tahir Hussain, has said strict action will be taken against those elements found involved in hoarding and black-marketing of fertilisers. He said a comprehensive mechanism has been evolved to ensure transparency in the supply of urea fertiliser to small growers at fixed rates.
He was presiding over a meeting convened to review the level of demand, supply and sale of urea fertiliser and arrangements for protection of the wheat recently purchased by the Food department, as well as pace of work on development projects.
The meeting was attended by DCO Faisalabad, Saeed Wahlah, DCO Jhang, Asad Islam Mahni, and DCO T. T. Singh, M. Yaqub Khan, Director Development Dr Tariq Sardar, EDOs Revenue and Agriculture departments of the three district, Additional Commissioner, Shafqat Ullah Mushtaq, and other officials concerned.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the DCOs and officers of Revenue Department to monitor demand, supply and sale of fertilisers and maintain a record in this regard. He said legal action would be taken against profiteers and adulteration mafia of fertilisers. The meeting was told that 413 tractors had been supplied to growers under the CM Punjab Green Tractor Scheme in the Faisalabad district.
The progress of Food Support Scheme, Sasti Roti Programme, construction of 8 important roads in Faisalabad city, recovery of government dues, development projects carried out under MPAs development programme, recent recruitment process and other development and administrative matters were also reviewed during the meeting.
