Sindh's nationalist leader and human rights activist, Jam Saqi has called upon all the thinking individuals of the country to strive for forging unity in the ranks of the nation, as the country is confronted with hostile circumstances presently. He was addressing a programme at the National Press Club here on Wednesday.
The programme had been organised by the Club as a part of the series of programmes organised on Pakistan's national security and the dangers posed to it. He observed that the country was passing through a very critical phase of its entire history spanning over six decades.
His idea on how to control the raging militancy in the north-west region of the country was clear when he said, "The government must pursue talks too as a mean to reach a settlement with the militants. Only the use of force would not deliver the goods."
He appreciated the idea of convening an All Parties Conference, and added that the country needed many more initiatives of this kind in the future. "It will help the nation reach consensus on vital national issues," he observed. Jam Saqi also made an appeal to all those who matter to work for improving ties between India and Pakistan.
He warned against those hawkish elements on both sides of the border who are out to scuttle the peace initiatives taken by both the countries in the past. He urged both parties to the Kashmir conflict, India and Pakistan, to come to the negotiations table and sort their matters out through parleys.
