Malaysian shares closed up 0.48 percent on Friday in line with gains on Wall Street and other Asian markets, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gained 5.09 points to 1,059.50. Gainers outnumbered losers 338 to 306. "Gains on Wall Street overnight helped to lift sentiment, triggering some bargain-hunting activities," a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires.
Among gainers, Sime Darby gained 2.90 percent to 2.94 ringgit, TM added 2.60 percent to 2.78 and Genting was up 1.90 percent at 5.45. On the downside, UEM Land lost 5.10 percent to 1.51 while Tenaga was down 0.60 percent at 7.55.
