Managing Director (MD), Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal (PBM), Zamrud Khan has said that he, along with other parliamentarians, will accompany the first group of dislocated people of Malakand Division who will return to their homes after the completion of military operation.
Government and parliamentarians will provide unflinching and unswerving support to the dislocated families during the repatriation and reconstruction phase. He expressed these views while distributing relief goods worth Rs 8 million among the members of dislocated Sikh community of Malakand at Gordwara Punja Sahib. Federal Minister for Minority Affairs, Chaudhry Shahbaz Bhatti, Chairperson Standing Committee for Social Welfare Robina Qaim Khani, PPP Parliamentarians and office bearers were also present on the occasion.
The relief included 500 cheques of Rs 5000 each, Rs 30,000 for each new born of the dislocated families at Punja Sahib, Rs 30,000 for each newly wed couple among the dislocated, 500 pedestal fans, food items and wheel chairs. Zamrud Khan also announced that Bait-ul-Maal would provide free medical treatment to a young Sikh boy of Malakand who is suffering from cancer.
He also directed the administration of Punja Sahib to repair a list of all the dislocated people who are suffering from serious diseases so that they can be provided free treated from Bait-ul-Maal. Zamrud Khan said that the present Federal Government and Leadership of People's Party is devoted and dedicated to realise the vision of Benazir Bhutto for welfare and amelioration of minorities. Zamrud Khan highly appreciated the untiring efforts of Chaudhry Shahbaz Bhatti for the relief and welfare of dislocated Sikh families.
Chaudhry Shahbaz Bhatti and Robina Qaim Khani also reiterated the dedication and sincerity of the Federal Government for the quick solution to the problems of minorities. Representative of Sikh community while appreciating the efforts of federal government expressed their pride o being Pakistanis and vowed to sacrifice their life and property to safeguard the integrity of Pakistan.
