Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Saturday decided to form a lawyer's welfare society.President SCBA Ali Ahmed Kurd talking to reporters after chairing a meeting of SCBA executive committee said that the details of the proposed society would be made public on June 30 in Peshawar.
He said that the SCBA has decided to approach government for concession in PIA fares for legal fraternity. He said that it was also decided in the meeting that the government should take steps for providing free medical assistance to lawyers in all the major hospitals of the country.
Ali Ahmed Kurd said that a rest house for the lawyers would be built in Islamabad soon. He revealed that a major amount would be allocated from the SCBA fund for the lawyers of Malakand agency.
He said a fund for the support of Swat lawyers had been formed in which lawyers across the country will contribute their share. Replying to a question, Ali Ahmed Kurd said that the lawyers had not accepted the PCO judges but they were giving time to the courts to resolve the issue on their own. SCBA executive body members were also present on the occasion.
