The people of Azad Kashmir, Northern parts of the Punjab and adjoining areas including the federal capital and Rawalpindi will receive the first ever monsoon rain within next 24 hours that will break the continuous warm spell and provide a sigh of relief from the scorching heat.
Chief Meteorologist Dr Ghulam Rasul talking to APP said a system has approached to the region that include Azad Kashmir and Northern parts of NWFP and the upper Punjab that will bring rain to the areas of Murree, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Chakwal and other adjoining areas within next 24 hours.
Although some respite is expected in country's upper parts of Punjab, Azad Kashmir and NWFP with dust storm and light showers while the southern areas of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan will remain in heat wave and these areas will receive rain in the first week of July. Dr Ghulam Rasul said Tuesday morning will start with isolated thunderstorms with partly cloudy skies. Regarding highest temperature in the federal capital, he said, Sunday was the warmest day of Islamabad with 45.5 degree centigrade.
He said although it was the highest of the current season, but still less than the highest ever temperature of 47 degree centigrade recorded at the federal capital. However, Dr Ghulam Rasul said the first rain of monsoon starting within next 24 hours will continue for three to four days and after a break of few days, it will persist for the whole season with intervals.
