Young Rising Star Women Football Club (YRSWFC) earned another resounding victory in Group-D to enter last four of second National Women Football Club Championship, thus joining Karachi's Diya Club, Lahore's Sports Sciences Department of Punjab University and Balochistan United.
YRSWFC is a team organised by the US Embassy in Pakistan as part of a 2007 State Department Youth Enrichment Programme (YEP) and they won the National Championship in second attempt a year later. YRSWFC overwhelmed Peshawar's Spark FC 10-0 with Sahar Zaman getting hat-trick, two own goals plus Sana Gul, Asmara Habib, Malaika Noor, Zara Kiyani and skipper Sana Mahmood were other scorers. Earlier, YRS edged out Suzuki Motors 2-0 and Frontier 5-0.
It was third successive match YRSWFC had to play without any communication from three suspended officials - President, Ghias Uddin Baloch, coach Shahid Ahmed Khan and Assistant coach, Asma Tehseen." The three were banned from taking space in the dugout/team bench under PFF's orders and had to watch the proceedings from spectator's zone at Islamabad's OPF Ground, H-8," said Match Commissioner, Irfan Niazi.
"Any PFF-affiliated team intending to go abroad need No Objection certificate (NOC) from Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) but YRSWFC overlooking the necessity of NOC while visiting Washington DC to experience soccer in the United States, a tour arranged by the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Sports United office from 9-18 April 2009," said PFF Women Wing Administrator Hurria Hussein.
PFF rightly took notice of Violation of PFF Regulations and PFF Administration Cell sent the case to Nasib Ullah Bazai-led PFF Disciplinary Committee (PFFDC) after YRSWFC officials failed to convince PFF with their explanations on 22 April and 10 May. In the meantime, PFF suspended three officials from all football-related activities till finalisation of their case by PFFDC. However, for the promotion of football, PFF won the hearts of soccer enthusiasts by allowing the club and ten visiting girls to play under stand-in coaching staff.
