There is no Talibanisation, no training camps for militants, no hideouts of terrorists in Southern Punjab, our rulers want to launch a military operation on US dictates in this zone, said Liaquat Baloch central Naib Amir of Jamaat Islami, while talking to newsmen at Multan airport, on Tuesday.
He urged the rulers to unite the nation to face external threats and aggression. He said that Pakistan was facing internal subversion and external threats and was surrounded by the flames of disintegration.
He added that the mistakes of the past were being repeated. General Pervez Ashraf had made a blunder by becoming a frontline ally of the United States in the war against terror. Liaquat Baloch demanded that the government adopt the same attitude with the NWFP province as it had adopted with Baluchistan and that issues be resolved through dialogue.
Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Amir Liaquat Baloch said that India was directly involved in creating unrest in Baluchistan. The government should award provincial autonomy to all the four provinces and immediately halt military operations in Baluchistan and the tribal areas for the restoration of peace.
He said: "The government has made a wrong choice by co-operating with the US in the so-called war against terrorism as the entire country has now fallen prey to terrorism. "Liaquat Baloch, said that the statement of the Interior Minister Rehman Malik about Taliban' presence in southern Punjab indicated the government's decision to launch an operation there.
JI leader said that the ongoing military operation in Swat and Malakand did not have any public support nor could it achieve the desired results. He said that over three million people were living in miserable conditions and were not getting any assistance from the government.
And that fresh reports about the entry of five vehicles loaded with arms and ammunition in the provincial capital were surprising and an attempt to harass the public. Baloch said it was questionable why the agencies had failed to check the vehicles despite prior information.
Condemning the removal of Quaid-e-Azam's photographs from the President and Prime Minister's House, he demanded an apology from the government. Referring to the water issue, the JI leader said that the government was deliberately creating differences between the provinces on water distribution. He said that the country was already facing a crises, but the rulers did not have the will to take vital decisions in the national interest.
