On the directives of Additional Chairman Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), MPA Mohammed Moin Khan, the work on the leaking 48 inch dia Bulk Water Supply Main, that supplies water from Hub dam to Orangi and Baldia Towns, was completed on an emergency basis within 16 hours.
It may be mentioned here that water was leaking out from joints of the line in the premises of Fire Brigade Station, behind Orangi Town No 5 Chowrangi. To repair the leakage it was necessary to carry out digging upto 42 feet and as per the Engineers, it would have taken three days while the water line could not be kept shut for three days in this hot weather. The Additional Chairman tasked Chief Engineer Project Saleem Siddiqi to carry out repair work in minimum possible time.
