Investigations into APS&C affairs ordered

The Board of Governors (BoG) Abbottabad Public School and College (APS&C) directed a probe into various affairs, including that of appointments and other administrative activities and asked for a detailed report before the next meeting, scheduled August 01, 2009.
The meeting of Board of Governors (BoG) was held on Wednesday with the NWFP Minister for Education, Sardar Hussein Babak. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Elementary Education Mohammad Arifeen, Principal of the Institute Mehboob Alam and other concerned officers and members of the BoG.
The meeting elaborated on different affairs of the institute thoroughly, and expressed dissatisfaction over many issues, carried out in the conventional way, rather than following the rules and law.
The Provincial Minister was astonished to see that the institute, established in 1961 on a precious land of 55 acres, was accommodating the same number of students even today, that is 548. However, the number of teachers, building accommodation and other facilities had increased manifold.
He said that the achievements of the institute were far below its expenditure and facilities provided by the government. The Minister said that the college should have been a well-known university by now.
He called upon the administration of the educational institutions of the peaceful areas of the province to make such arrangements immediately for the accommodation of students from the war-affected areas, so that they could continue with their studies.
Babak said that the war against terrorism, in different areas of Malakand division, had severely affected the young generation, especially the students. It was the responsibility of the entire province to accommodate all such students, in different educational institutions, at any cost, so that their educational journey could be continued.
The Minister also ordered the construction of new classrooms and hostel so that more students could be accommodated in this high profile institute. He directed that red tapism and meaningless objections be avoided and that the construction work be completed in the shortest span of time.
Rejecting different delaying tactics by the college administration, the Education Minister said that the state and the government were responsible for providing people with opportunities. So educational institutions should accommodate the maximum number of students.
