Commerce Minister, Makhdoom Amin Fahim has refuted the allegations of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) against Secretary Commerce Suleman Ghani for not consulting on trade policy 2009-10. Fahim, in a statement on Saturday said that it happened for the first time in the formulation of Trade Policy; all senior officers of the ministry along with Secretary Commerce visited all chambers and important associations including the LCCI.
"I personally attended meetings with chambers and associations, and participated in detailed consultation processes," he said adding that LCCI forwarded eight proposals, which were being processed for the upcoming trade policy," he added. He was of the view that if the chamber had any other observation or suggestion for the trade policy, it may communicate to the ministry. The Standing Committee on Commerce was taken into confidence before the announcement of the trade policy.-PR
