Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al- Nahyan, Foreign Minister of United Arab Emirates (UAE) called on President Asif Ali Zardari here on Saturday at the Presidency. Those who attended the meeting included Senator A Rehman Malik, Interior Minister, M Salman Faruqui, Secretary General to the President and Dr Asim Hussain, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Petroleum.
UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani was also present, said a press release. The President said that Pakistan attaches high value to its friendship and brotherly relations with UAE and urged for further enhancing the socio- economic and trade ties between the two countries. The President appreciated the support and assistance of the UAE government for the relief and rehabilitation of the displaced people and contribution to the UN Trust Fund for Benazir Bhutto Inquiry Commission.
The President also brought to the attention of the UAE Foreign Minister the media reports in Pakistan about the difficulties faced by the expatriates Pakistanis in obtaining and extending their visas and said that the matter needed to be looked into if the media reports are correct. The foreign minister hailed the way the Pakistan is fighting the militants and extremists and assured support of his government in the efforts for the relief and rehabilitation of the displaced people.-PR
