Karachi Transport Action Committee and Anjuman-e-Ittahad Bus Malikan Karachi leaders Muhammad Ashraf Banglori, Chaudhry Mazhar Hussain, Tanzeem Khan and Nazeer Banglori have demanded of the apex court to take notice of unjustified fresh rise in oil prices by the present government.
In a joint statement on Sunday, the transporters community leaders said the apex court may issue orders for fixing rates of oil as per international market prices. They also asked the political parties to raise voice against carbon tax on petroleum products along with the transport community so as to force the government to withdraw decision to impose carbon tax.
Transporters community leaders expressed concern, saying prices of petrol is continuously declining in international market but the government, instead of transferring this benefit to masses, is increasing petroleum prices and power tariff so as to fulfil its luxuries. They demanded of the supreme court to take suo motu action against carbon tax on petroleum products and rid the masses of government atrocities.
