Motorola to introduce self-healing phone
Motorola is planning to launch a phone that is not only shatter-resistant but can also heal itself on the spot. This new technology can surely save a lot of money for users.
The Lenovo-owned company Motorola has only applied for a patent for now which is yet to be accepted. The patent is about a self-healing phone screen that has the ability to heal itself as soon as heat is applied to it.
Engadget reports, the phone itself could produce the heat but, the person’s body heat, a dock or a plug-in panel can work too. Though shatter-proof screens were already made before, it’s the self-healing property that makes it unique.
As online media outlets inform, the company is making its efforts to launch the new smartphone with self-healing screen technology. However, the media outlets did not reveal any other details, the specifications or the price of the phone.
The phone screen is made up of polymer that repairs the scratches on the screen. Heat will be applied on the screen in order to fix scratch damages that are more than slight damage. Nevertheless, the technology is not entirely 100% sufficient as it might not be able to heal the phone screen if it completely breaks or shatters down, reports Tech Juice.
However, due to the polymer used, the touch might not feel as good as other smartphones and can also never reinstate the screen’s strength wholly. But, if the patent is accepted and the phone is successful, it will prove to be beneficial for users as they won’t have to go to markets again and again.
