All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Pakistan President Haji Maqsood Butt has announced shutter down strike all over Punjab on Tuesday (July 21). He said that if the government did not stop load shedding then the traders community will give another call for countrywide strike adding that they will also stage a sit in outside the Wapda offices all over the country.
He was addressing the traders convention organised by All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Pakistan on Tuesday, which was attended by traders from all 36 districts of Punjab. He said that doors of trader community are open for dialogue. He said the government should pay the amount of Rs 100 billion to the Independent Power Producer (IPP). "An amount of Rs 70 billion allocated for Benazir Income Support Programme could be given to IPPs and thus provide relief to the people," he added.
He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu action on load shedding. He said that the traders' community should continue their protest against load shedding till its comes to an end. He further said the Managing Director, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) had offered them that they would stop load shedding in commercial areas from 4pm and offered them that their representatives will be in the load management committees.
