Chairman Chief Minister Task Force for Prevention of Spurious Drugs and Quackery Abdul Rehman Rana MPA has said that a full-fledged and comprehensive campaign was being initiated to eradicate spurious drugs and quackery system from the division.
He stressed upon Drug Inspectors and DDOs Health to submit a detailed data and information about the non-professional practitioners and sellers of spurious drugs so that a crackdown could be started in the division.
He told that a 48 point recommendation have been sent to Chief Minister Secretariat for amendment in drug act after considering ground realities and analysing the viewpoint of stakeholders. He stated this while chairing a meeting here at committee of commissioner office on Wednesday.
The chairman asserted that the government would provide security and extend co-operation to honest and good medical practitioners and warned that strict actions would be taken against quacks and dealers of spurious drugs also. He also maintained that laxity and negligence on the part of concerned officials would not be tolerated at any cost in this regard.
At this occasion Commissioner Tahir Hussain directed all drugs inspectors and DDOs Health to regularly report actions being taken against quacks and spurious drug dealers to commissioner office so that the purposes of the campaign could be achieved in a smooth manner. DCOs of the four districts, EDOs Health, DDOs Health, Drug Inspectors, police officers and other members of taskforce also attended the meeting.
