Lahore High Court Bar Association elections will be held as per schedule on July 11 (today) according to February 28, 2009 voters list, said secretary bar Muqtadar Shabir Akhtar. Talking to the newsmen here Muqtadar said polling will start at 9.00 am with an interval of one hour from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm and will continue till 5.00 pm.
He said only eligible voters having original cards of LHCBA, Pakistan Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association would be allowed to cast their votes. Photocopy of any card will not be accepted from any bar member, Muqtadar stressed and requested all the bar members to come with original cards for casting their votes.
It may be mentioned that Punjab Bar Council on appeal of acting president bar Anwar Iqbal Gondal had announced election of Nasira Iqbal as null and void and announced fresh elections. Although Nasira Iqbal did not accept the jurisdiction of the bar council to interfere in bar affairs however she is contesting elections again with support of professional group headed by Hamid Khan.
