'Super Power' blames Pakistan for its failure in Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD: Former Foreign Secretary Akram Zaki, commenting on policy statement of American President Donald Trump Tuesday said the 'Supper Power' was blaming Pakistan for its failure in Afghanistan and it seemed that instead of Washington, the US policies regarding Pakistan were being formulated in New Dheli.
Talking to APP about the recent policy statement of the US President, Donald Trump here on Tuesday, the seasoned diplomat said, "This is what we were expecting from President Donald Trump."
He said Pakistan needed to strengthen diplomatic ties with China, Russia and Iran.
National unity and national integration was of utmost importance for addressing the international issues, he remarked.
Akram Zaki said, "The demand to do more has made us on the wrong side of the alliance," adding that Pakistan should have a national debate over the foreign policy in the Parliament.
He said, "Pakistan is in need of strong, integrated, and comprehensive foreign policy."
He said in order to focus on external issues being faced by the country, the internal conflicts should be avoided.
The ambassador, however, said, "If Pakistan gets apologetic, it will not be listened."
He said, "Firstly, we have to make our own house in order."
Regarding the human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir, he said the embassies of Pakistan should actively project the Kashmir issue on international fronts for its peaceful resolution.
