Minorities Day was observed across the Southern Punjab on Tuesday to mark the sacrifices rendered by the minorities' communities for Pakistan's stability and movement for freedom. While Christians of Multan observed the black day because three Christians were shot at and injured in Chichawatni.
They were admitted to Nishtar Hospital Multan. All Pakistan Minorities Alliance Multan chapter President S.George said: "our three community members injured when some unidentified attackers of banned sectarian outfit opened fire in Chichawatni," S.George also expressed sympathy with the deceased families of Gojra.
APMA co-ordinator for Southern Punjab Naveed Aamer Jeeva said," PPP led Federal government has decided to observe Minorities Day on August 11 every year to recognise the role of minorities for the country's progress and development. To mark the day, Programmes were organised across the country in which role of the minorities for the country's development was highlighted. He hailed the government's decision to observe Minorities Day. He said for the first time in the country's history the role of minorities has been recognised.
