A fresh inflow of $18.378 million of foreign portfolio investment at the country''s equity market was recorded during the outgoing week ended August 13, 2009. According to National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), the cumulative inflow of this mode of investment has increased to $37.730 million in the first 13 days of the current month.
Foreign investors'' confidence is reviving and they are coming back to invest in the equity market due to available attractive levels, analysts said. They said the foreign investors'' interest supported the KSE-100 index to increase 1.8 percent (139 points) on week-on-week basis to close above the psychological level of 8,000 points.
The week started with a positive trend as a healthy inflow of $7,557,868 was witnessed on Monday. This trend continued and the foreign investors remained net buyers of share worth $2,510,192 on Tuesday. A fresh inflow of $3,942,716 of foreign portfolio investment at the local equity market was recorded on Wednesday while another $4,368,176 came in on Thursday.
