Indonesian shares ended 2.09 percent higher Thursday led by gains in most commodity-related stocks on the back of high oil prices and the firmer rupiah, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index gained 49.13 points to 2,396.49 in moderate trade. The gain followed a 2.16 percent fall Wednesday. "There were a lot of good factors that propped up sentiment here after yesterday's correction," a trader told Dow Jones Newswires.
Coal miner Bumi rose 8.6 percent to 3,175 rupiah, palm oil company, Bakrie Sumatra added 12 percent to 1,000 and Astra Agro Lestari gained 2.5 percent to 22,450. The rupiah ended at 9,950 to the dollar compared to 9,995 at the last close.
