The Thai stock market gained 1.97 percent Thursday to close at an 11-month high due to a rally in the energy and banking sectors, analysts said. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index jumped 12.66 points to close at 655.68 and the blue chip SET-50 index rose 9.97 points to 475.51.
Gainers overwhelmed losers 270 to 80 and 102 stocks were unchanged with turnover of 4.1 billion shares worth 25.9 billion baht (760.7 million dollars). Coal miner Banpu soared 18.00 baht to close at 426.00 baht, PTT Plc rose 4.00 baht to 254.00 baht, and its subsidiary PTT Exploration and Production added 2.50 to 143.00. Bangkok Bank rose 4.50 to 115.00 baht, Kasikornbank was up 1.75 to 72.75 baht and Siam Commercial Bank edged up 1.00 baht to 78.75. Siam Cement inched up 0.50 to finish at 199.00 baht.
